Continental high profile cone top cans look a lot more "natural" than American high profile cone tops.

The "lip" on the spout of Continental cans is consistently rounder and smoother. On American's high profile cones, the "lip" is a bit more erratic - usually more angular.

The easiest way to tell one from the other is by looking at the neck - the part between the spout and "lip."  Continental's necks are smooth and straight.  In other words, looking from the side, the neck will be perfectly vertical.  American's necks are much more "strained" looking.  They're curved (as opposed to vertical) and most have "stretch marks" from whatever process it was American used to build them.
